Metrohm acquires majority of Snowy Range Instruments (SnRI)

The Swiss Metrohm AG is pleased to announce the acquisition of the majority of Snowy Range Instruments (SnRI). The acquisition comes after a longer period of successful cooperation between the two companies in the development of handheld devices for Raman spectroscopy.

With the acquisition of Snowy Range Instruments (SnRI), Metrohm benefits from the know-how and resources of a technology leader in applied Raman spectroscopy consolidating the company’s strategic move to extend the Metrohm solution portfolio to next generation handheld Raman spectrometers.

While the company name “Snowy Range Instruments” will change with the acquisition of Snowy Range Instruments (SnRI) to “Metrohm Raman”, the US company will continue to develop and produce the Metrohm Raman spectrometers in Laramie, Wyoming.

Metrohm is a leading manufacturer of instruments for chemical analysis. Metrohm is unique in offering solutions for all varieties of ion analysis (potentiometric and Karl Fischer titration, voltammetry, ion chromatography, pH, ion, conductivity, and stability measurement). Besides this, the Metrohm portfolio also includes a complete portfolio for NIR-spectroscopy, software, dosing systems and solutions for laboratory automation. Metrohm is owned 100% by the Swiss Metrohm foundation and is represented in 80 countries by their own subsidiaries or exclusive distributors, respectively. Customers are supported with unparalleled application know-how and service. Read more on www.metrohm.com

New Partnership

Metrohm and Snowy Range Instruments (SnRI) are pleased to announce that the two companies have entered into a strategic alliance. Under the agreement, SnRI will develop and manufacture a new handheld Raman spectrometer exclusively for Metrohm.

The new handheld Raman spectrometers will be distributed under the Metrohm NIRSystems brand. They will round out the Metrohm portfolio of spectrometers, which consists of a comprehensive offering of solutions for near-infrared spectroscopy. Metrohm’s extended product range for spectroscopy will focus primarily on the analytical requirements of chemical and pharmaceutical industries.
“We are very pleased to have Snowy Range as our partner in this project; a company with profound experience in Raman spectroscopy”, says Dr. Christoph Fässler, CEO of the Metrohm Group. “Our customers have known us for a long time as a leading provider of solutions for wet-chemical analysis; with our new handheld Raman analyzers, they will be able to meet analytical challenges beyond the scope of the traditional Metrohm portfolio.” Dr. Keith Carron, CEO of SnRI states that, “Snowy Range is delighted to design and manufacture a state-of-the-art device to round out the Metrohm portfolio of products.”
